Germans would pay €87,194 to receive a compliment from a stranger, according to a survey by online shopping deals website Shoop.de, first released to media on Thursday. That’s more than the starting price for the new BMW 5 series, starting at around €50,000, or for Porsche’s new 2017 718 Cayman S – around €64,000, and which The New York Times has proclaimed a “driver’s dream”.
The survey also revealed that Germans would pay more to have a partner who is faithful than they would to find their one true love. Having a faithful partner – the second highest-valued item – was worth more than a quarter of a million euros, while “finding that one great love” was worth €187,808.
