Police reported on Sunday that they are searching for a girl with dark blonde hair and about 15 years old, who reportedly injured ten people near a carnival ride at the Moerser Kirmes folk festival in the town of Moers, North Rhine-Westphalia.
The girl sprayed the ten victims at about 8.30pm without reason, according to police.
Six of those affected by the pepper spray were treated by paramedics at the fairground and were either picked up by their parents, or left the festival afterwards on their own. Another four people were taken to an eye clinic in the town.
The people she sprayed were young, between the ages of 14 and 22, and the pepper spray affected either their eyes or respiratory systems.
The perpetrator is described as a 15-year-old girl, 170cm tall with long, dark blonde hair. She was wearing jeans with a dark-coloured jacket at the time of the attack.
After deadly terror attacks in Europe and the hundreds of sexual assaults reported on New Year’s Eve in various German cities, the number of people holding “small weapons licences” in Germany rose by about 50 percent in the first half of the year, according to the Süddeutsche Zeitung.
