If you’re feeling like you need a top up on your vitamin D this winter, then this map could show you where to go.
It is perhaps not surprising that the two southern most states (Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg) see the most sunshine on average during December and January, clocking up 171 and 169 hours respectively.
And, with on average 37 fewer hours of sunshine than Bavaria over the winter, the northern city-state of Hamburg is in the dark blue on the map (134 hours).
