1,000 East African skulls, skeleton still in Berlin: report

Public broadcaster ARD pronounced it had performed lists of a tellurian stays that are still hold by a Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation, that administers a capital’s state museums.

The Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation is obliged for a collections during Berlin’s world-famous museum island, as good as a Berlin State Library and a Prussian Secret State Archives.

Most of a skulls and skeleton are noted as stemming from Germany’s former East African colonies, including 1,003 equipment from Rwanda and 60 from Tanzania. Among them are 10 skulls of children.

Some of a tellurian remains, kept during a Foundation’s categorical storage facility, came from insurgents who had been decapitated by German troops. Their skulls were afterwards sent to Berlin for “scientific” experiments.

Asked about a items, a foundation’s chief, Hermann Parzinger, told ARD that his organization “has no problem with returning these things”.

Germany has in new years handed behind 20 skulls belonging to inland Namibians.

The skulls are among an estimated 300 taken to Germany after a massacre of inland Namibians during an anti-colonial overthrow in what was afterwards called South West Africa, that Berlin ruled from 1884 to 1915.

The skulls collected dirt in a German repository until 2008, when ARD reported that they were still kept during a Medical History Museum of a Charite sanatorium in Berlin, and during Freiburg University in a southwest.

The broadside stirred Namibia to find a compensation of a remains.
