Hariri says Future Movement strong despite problems

Future Movement leader Saad Hariri Saturday acknowledged cracks within his party’s ranks, but said its foundation remained strong and vowed to continue down a path he said would protect Lebanon.

Hariri has blamed Syria for the 2005 assassination of his father, Rafik Hariri, also a former premier, and a host of other officials from his March 14 political coalition.

The Hariri-backed list was defeated by a ticket supported by Resigned Justice Minister Ashraf Rifi, a former police chief who recently split from the Future Movement, which he accused of abandoning the path of Hariri’s father.
