Germany is famous the world over for its beer culture. There are between 5000 and 6000 varieties, and for every one of them the “purity law” of 1516 still plays an important role in the brewing process. It states that beer produced in Germany may only contain barley, hops, yeast and water. The alcohol content of most German beers is around five percent, but alcohol-free beer is also growing in popularity.
