Bundesliga live: Bayern Munich vs. RB Leipzig
80′ — James goes for goal, curls over from the edge of the box. His close control really is excellent. It has got to that stage of the game, where I have started to notice those kind of things.
76′ — Hummels gets a boot to the face. Bayern keeping the ball nicely, posing the occasional threat. RB Leipzig content to keep them at bay. This is like being at a concert where they have played the hit singles too early and now you’re deep into the album, wondering what you saw in the band anyway.
63′ — Heynckes is going bonkers on the sidelines. He isn’t happy. The tempo is gone and Jupp knows he could be home by now, looking after Cando (his dog). Understandable really.
58′ — Alaba wafts a free kick wide. It all feels a bit stagnant now. Bayern know they have won, RB Leipzig know they haven’t. All about pride now. Emil Forsberg off, Konrad Laimer on. Something of note are the banners in the home stand (see below).
56′ — So far, so good from RB Leipzig. They have kept Bayern Munich at bay, and the home side look content enough about it. This is game is drifting to a conclusion at the moment.
49′ — Nearly an own goal from RB Leipzig, but the deflection goes wide. Not sure they need to be scoring goals for Bayern. Alaba exchanges nicely with Vidal for a one-two, but slams into the side netting. There are going to be more goals in this half for Bayern, it seems.
46′ — The second half has started, although I’m not sure RB Leipzig will be too happy it has. Bayern finished the first half with 13-2 shots, 9-1 corners and an amazing 90 percent pass success rate.

45+1′ — Kimmich backheel, Robben pass, Vidal pass, clearance. A long second half awaits RB Leipzig now.
44′ — James slices (no peaches) wide with the chance to make it three. Lewandowski comes off, with an injury it seems. Maybe hamstring? Not clear. Arturo Vidal comes on, Thiago in attack but for how long?
38′ — GOAL! Bayern Munich 2-0 RB Leipzig (Lewandowski) What a pass from Javi Martinez. Without that pass, nothing happens. I almost feel that football exists for passes like that, such was its excellence. The Spaniard’s first-time ball slices through the RB Leipzig defense and Lewandowski drives forward to finish calmly. Game over, if we’re honest about what we’re viewing.
36′ — RB Leipzig not pressing, unsurprisingly, but it has slowed the tempo at times. Unless Bayern want it to go fast, then it’s a waiting game really as the visitors try to stay in the game. As on Wednesday, lots of talk about the game that might have been rather than currently is. What a difference a red card makes.
34′ — Jupp Heynckes eh? Hasn’t been here long and Bayern already look like a side that loves to play again, that knows how to win and win regularly. Poulsen working hard to try and create something out of nothing, but Boateng does a top job of tracking back and dealing with it.
28′ — Well, I talked it up and now the game has slowed a little as RB Leipzig recover and Bayern plan again.
24′ — This could be a mauling now. Gluacsi makes another top save to deny Robert Lewandowski a headed goal, but like the impending winter in Europe, Bayern are closing in on a second.
22′ — Huge call from Hasenhüttl, but maybe that makes sense (I doubt myself as I write that). Timo Werner is brought off, Ibrahima Konate (center back) comes on. Clear decision. James nearly doubles up, but his deflected shot lands on top of the goal rather than in it.
18′ — GOAL! Bayern Munich 1-0 RB Leipzig (James) That didn’t take long. Arjen Robben does his magic out wide, passes into the box and James hits it perfectly, first time with the side of his foot. Lovely finish. Bayern lead, as do James’ 33 million Facebook followers. What a night.
16′ — So, Ralph Hasenhüttl moves Marcel Sabitzer to right back and Lukas Klostermann to the middle of defence. Tricky for RB Leipzig now. Very tricky.
13′ — RED CARD – Orban! And off goes RB Leipzig’s captain and best defender this season. Robben was bursting into the box and so that makes sense. Deja-vu for Leipzig. Goodness me – that will change things. Peter Gulacsi makes an amazing save to deny Robben a goal from the free kick.
11′ — Willi Orban comes across and clatters into Arjen Robben a little clumsily. Edge of the box. Free kick, no arguments. But there will be, because Dr. Jochen Drees wants to check the decision with the VAR. A little jog and he returns…
10′ — Now it’s Bayern’s turn! Javi Martinez gets up to meet a corner, but heads over under pressure. Tougher chance, but a chance nonetheless.
8′ — I don’t want to say Timo Werner should do better, but a free header at the near post after a good corner (far too rare a thing) shouldn’t end up over the bar. But it did. Chance, you know.
5′ — Yussuf Poulsen gets smacked in the face by a Mats Hummels’ clearance. Ouch. That’ not just a bump to the head, but a proper punch. Speaking of which, after the exchange of blows in the German Cup, all eyes will be on who lands the key punches tonight (here’s looking at you Joshua Kimmich, Timo Werner).
3′ — Bayern start brightly. Alaba tries to slam home just outside the box, but it’s blocked. The corner is nearly headed home too, but that ends up over the bar.
1′ — Off we go. The talking is over. Time for the football to take center stage again.
— Ralph Hasenhüttl called RB Leipzig’s loss to Bayern Munich “as good as a draw” after the game went to a penalty shootout.
— Bayern Munich’s team is out. Sebastian Rudy starts, as do James Rodriguez and Javi Martinez. As for RB Leipzig, Timo Werner returns to the team for Jean-Kevin Augustin. The rest of the XI is as expected.
— And so with those games over and Dortmund losing, attention turns to the big one on Matchday 10. Bayern Munich vs. RB Leipzig and a chance for the winner to take top spot.

RESULT
In a thrilling game, Hannover have come out on top and win, deservedly, 4-2. The red card might have turned the tide somewhat as Dortmund looked set to go on and win from there, but defensive errors left BVB exposed and Hannover made the most of it. Lots of questions in the air for Bosz. How risky can he continue to play? What will he change, if at all? Can he afford not to? What about that defense? Not long before he has to deliver either, as APOEL come to town in the Champions League next week.
88′ — Hannover running riot against this Dortmund team now. Granted the visitors are down to 10, but goodness me this has been a concerning performance from Bosz’s boys. Harnik nearly scores a worldie that looks like a bicycle kick but is more a leg thrown at a cross. Bürki makes a brilliant reflex save.
86′ — GOAL! Hannover 4-2 Dortmund (Bebou) Goodnight. Desperate for an equalizer, the ball doesn’t sit for Dortmund, Hannover break and Harnik plays the key ball to Bebou. The attack gets the ball out wide, cuts into the box with relative ease and then fires into the bottom corner. This one is done. Peter Bosz has some questions to both ask and answer.
GOAL! Hoffenheim 1-3 Gladbach (Vestergaard 82′)
82′ — Hannover’s keeper Philipp Tschauner booked for time wasting. Not surprising really, given that if Hannover win this they’re into the heady heights of fifth. Dortmund running out of time now. Need something special…

80′ — Jonathas comes off, as slowly as he can. Niclas Füllkrug comes on. Martin Harnik came on a few moments ago for Felx Klaus (probably man of the match). Hannover making the changes to see this one home.
GOAL! Hertha Berlin 2-1 Hamburg (Arp 73′)
76′ — Too much time is never a good thing and so it proved for Bebou, who has a chance to beat Bürki and decide the game, but the Swiss keeper makes another good save as the attacker’s decision to curl his shot towards the far post was too obvious.
GOAL! Leverkusen 2-1 Cologne (S. Bender 74′)
75′ — Has a bit of the final scene in ‘The Magnificent Seven’ here. The onslaught from Dortmund is slowly arriving as Hannover try to soak up the pressure and then jump on the break with a man advantage. Bebou fires wide in the box. Andre Schürrle comes on for Yarmolenko.
70′ — Well this is a problem for BVB’s spot at the top. Whoever wins out of Bayern vs. Leipzig later is going to take it at this rate, unless Dortmund have something magical here. Approaching the final 20 minutes. End to end. Pulisic tries to find Yarmolenko, but cleared for a corner. Comes in, leads to another corner. Cleared. Rain coming down now.
63′ — Klaus nearly makes it two for him and four for Hannover, but Bürki makes a good save. More goals left in this one, for sure.
GOAL! Hoffenheim 1-1 Gladbach (Hazard 62′)
60′ — GOAL! Hannover 3-2 Dortmund (Klaus) What a crazy two minutes! Felix Klaus takes advantage of the free kick positon after Zagadou’s sending off and curls a fantastic free kick into the top corner. Bürki stood no chance, a bit like Dortmund seem to stand today. What a game!
59′ — RED CARD – Zagadou! Don’t think Dan-Axel Zagadou will forget his ninth Bundesliga game in a while. A simple ball through the middle and a little tug and tangle of legs with Jonathas sees the Frenchman sent off. Concerns that he even had to make that tackle really.
57′ — And at the end of that attack, a fan runs onto the pitch to disrupt play. Maybe that was the break Hannover needed to recover? Instantly, the home side are back on the front foot but this time Dortmund’s defense is on hand to deal with it. I think the game is what we call in the balance.

55′ — Dortmund’s heads are up and they are in control now. Nightmare situation for Andre Breitenreiter and his men. Korb clears off the toes of Aubameyang with the goal gaping!
52′ — GOAL! Hannover 2-2 Dortmund (Yarmolenko) I was just about to write that Dortmund had started this half far too slowly for a side needing to score more than one to win the game and then Andriy Yarmolenko delivered. Half cleared and Yarmolenko took his volley very well from the edge of the box, sneaking it inside the near post. What next in this four-goal thriller?

46′ — Dortmund have 45 minutes to save the game, Hannover to hold on/decide it. Which way will it go? Time to find out. Shinji Kagawa has replaced Gonzalo Castro at the break.
HALFTIME
New week, same problems for BVB. The same defensive issues have persisted and Hannover have been excellent at exploiting those weaknesses so far. Changes must be made if Dortmund are going to get better. Hannover winning 2-1, and not undeservedly.

43′ — This is quite startling from Dortmund. No high press, lots of long balls, poor positional shape or plan. Can’t just say the pitch is bad. Dortmund are making it look bad with their performance at the moment and that is a worry for all those in yellow and black (those in red are pretty happy by the way).
40′ — GOAL! Hannover 2-1 Borussia Dortmund (Bebou) What a game football can be. From a BVB free kick, Dortmund lose the ball in midfield, Hannover break, Klaus plays Jonathas in out wide and his pass is perfectly wrapped around the defense for Bebou, who shoots across Bürki and into the corner. Hannover 96 currently the best example of efficiency in Germany.
36′ — Oh. My. Word. Stop the votes. We have the miss of the season. Pulisic steals it off Salif Sane, bursts into the box and passes to Aubameyang. The ball is behind the striker though, allowing Yarmolenko to ghost in and sco… With the goal at his mercy, the Ukrainian blazes the ball over. A big miss. I think BVB’s Twitter account have found the perfect emoji for that, although Lars Pollman’s words also hit the, ahem, mark.
33′ — This pitch is going to be a real problem in about half an hour. It’s already tearing up. I’m sure someone will say something about it afterwards. Yarmolenko makes a top sliding tackle to stop the cross and leaves a big slide mark in the turf. This game hasn’t left too much of a mark in the history books so far, but plenty of time left for that.
27′ — GOAL! Hannover 1-1 Borussia Dortmund (Zagadou) We are level! A bad corner is sent back into the box badly by Nuri Sahin. Marvin Bakalorz’s clearance is poor and Dan-Axel Zagadou (real name) lets it bounce and then smashes home. He runs straight to celebrate with Dortmund’s chief translator – some language love right there.

25′ — Right then Dortmund, what have you got? Sky’s in-house referee Markus Merk says he wouldn’t have given it. Easy to say from there, but has changed the game. Pulisic flashes a cross, but Aubameyang’s outstretched boot can’t connect.
GOAL! Hertha Berlin 1-0 Hamburg (Stark 17′)
20′ — GOAL! 1-0 Hannover (Jonathas) Bürki is sent the wrong way from the spot and Dortmund’s day is now going the wrong way as they’re a goal down.
19′ — PENALTY for Hannover! What drama we have there. Hannover break, Felix Klaus is put through and Roman Bürki doesn’t get the ball but gets him. The winger looks for the contact a bit, but legs are tangled and that’s always going to be given. A quick check with VAR and off we go.
16′ — Bebou dances through Yarmolenko and Sokratis in the box, plays the ball across but it doesn’t ever sit for a Hannover player. Bürki slides out to force the corner, which Hannover don’t use. A real moment of individual quality there. Could be one of those games where that and that alone decides it.
15′ — Pirmin Schwegler has a bloody face and I think he might have just taken a bump to the mouth after clashing with Gonzalo Castro’s head. He trots back on. Looks painful, a bit like watching Dortmund try to find some inspiration here to be honest.
10′ — Christian Pulisic darts down the left wing. It’s his 48th Bundesliga game today and he is just 19. My goodness. He has been busy. Not busy enough for Dortmund’s liking so far here though. Hannover handling captain America and co. comfortably so far.
7′ — Has to be said this pitch in Hannover looks like a game of rugby was played on it this morning. Turf looks soft, and there are enough muddy patches to suit a country estate. Dortmund try to play it in the air (perhaps to avoid the pitch) but it comes to nothing.
5‘ — Nearly a Hannover counterattack, but Dortmund get back in time. That’s always been the concern with Dortmund’s defense – can they get back in time before the opposition takes advantage?
3′ — BVB fans in great voice early on here and their players nearly reward them instantly too as a low cross flashed across goal is just cleared off Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s feet at the back post. Chance.
1′ — Off we go in a stormy and very fresh Hanover!
— This might read like just another league game, but make no mistake this is a the big one before the really big one today. It’s first vs. sixth and that’s a credit to both teams. Hannover won their last game but lost the two before that, Dortmund haven’t won in the Bundesliga since that scrappy away victory in Augsburg. Time to change that? Time to find out!
— Peter Bosz ahead of the game confirms that Nuri Sahin start as Julian Weigl wasn’t 100 percent. When asked on Sky how he thought Hannover were going to play, Bosz’s reply was simply: ” I have no idea”. The Dutchman added he clearly had given thought to how they might play, but as he didn’t know exactly he was keen to focus on his side getting it right first. Makes sense, when you think about it.
— Line-ups are in. BVB make four changes, with the most surprising perhaps Dan-Axel Zagadou is in at right back. Hannover turn to Jonathas in attack, with Martin Harnik not quite fully fit and therefore on the bench.
