Champions League: Dortmund draw Real, Bayern get PSG in group stage

Borussia Dortmund have been drawn with holders Real Madrid for the second straight year in the Champions League group stage while Bayern Munich will come up against Carlo Ancelotti’s former side Paris St Germain, who now boast the world’s most expensive player – Neymar.

RB Leipzig have a simpler looking group in their debut in the competition having been drawn with Monaco – who have sold many of their top stars – Porto and Besiktas.

Dortmund drew 2-2 home and away with Real last term and finished above the Spanish giants in their group. But chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke was under no illusions how tough Group H looks with Tottenham Hotspur and APOEL Nicosia also there.

“It is obviously arduous and difficult,” he told Sky Sport.

Ancelotti spent two years at PSG before asking to leave in 2013 and joining Real. His Bayern side will also come up against Belgian champions Anderlecht and Scotland’s Celtic.

The first matchday is on September 12 and 13. Bayern host Anderlecht in their opener on the Tuesday with Dortmund travelling to Wembley to play Tottenham on the Wednesday and RB Leipzig entertaining Monaco.

Dortmund welcome Real on the second matchday on September 26 when RB Leipzig go to Besiktas. Bayern are at PSG a day later.
