Berlin baby elephant is ‘New Year gift’

Kewa had a elementary smoothness though any assistance from zoo attendants or vets. The new baby weighs around 100 kilos and is nursing frequently from her mother.

“What a New Year’s gift,” pronounced Zoo and Tierpark executive Andreas Knieriem. “New Year babies are always something special, though a healthy New Year’s elephant baby is really singular and we’re really happy.”

With a birth of a as-yet-unnamed baby, a flock in a Tierpark now numbers 6 African and 7 Asian elephants, after her father, 32-year-old Ankhor, was given divided to Prague zoo in Aug 2014.
