Pakistani jailed in Germany for espionage for Iran

The defendant, 31-year-old Mustufa Haidar Syed-Naqfi, was condemned to 4 years and 3 months in jail “for operative for a unfamiliar comprehension service”, a mouthpiece for Berlin’s higher justice said.

The justice found he spied “against Germany and another NATO member”, France, for a Quds Force, a unfamiliar operations wing of a chosen Revolutionary Guards.

Syed-Naqfi gathered dossiers on probable dispute targets – a German lawmaker who is a former conduct of a German-Israeli organisation, and a French-Israeli economics professor.

Investigators found minute dossiers on a group and their daily routines, with hundreds of photos and video clips.

The justice listened they minute a targets’ homes and work places, several entrance routes to them, as good as information on confidence guards, surveillance cameras and circuitously military stations.

A deputy of Germany’s domestic comprehension service, that handles counterespionage, pronounced it was alerted to a suspect by a “reliable” source.

The use suspected a Quds Force was scheming for a probable destiny dispute with a United States and Israel, when it could strike targets in Europe in a form of “asymmetrical warfare”.

The Karachi-born Syed-Naqfi came to Germany as a tyro in 2012 and many recently lived in a western city of Bremen.

The suspect trafficked to Iran during slightest twice, in Oct 2015 and Feb 2016, and perceived during slightest 2,052 euros ($2,237) for his comprehension activities.

He was arrested in Jul 2016 though declined to attest during a hearing – “out of fear”, according to his lawyer.
